Reducing the number of animals in shelters through humane education.

Pawsitive Methods was founded in 2005 to achieve this goal. This requires attention to several aspects of the canine/ human relationship.

Increase the adoptability of animals in shelters.

• Perform volunteer and paid tasks at shelters, targeting behavioral issues.
  • Assist in training staff and dogs to make dogs more adoptable.
  • Provide Mentoring Services to help shape the next generation of trainers.
  • Provide assistance that facilitates the adoption process.
  • Increase public awareness of the benefits of adoption.

Decrease the number of animals that are surrendered.

• Decreasing the number of animals in shelters can be accomplished using the following methods.
  • Provide low cost and/ or free training.
  • Provide low cost and/ or free behavioral assistance.
  • Provide easily access to self-help materials.

Improve our services

• Improved services can be achieved by the following methods.
  • Involvment in continuing education.
  • Work towards certification in multiple areas.
  • Gain authorization to perform specific training and/ or testing.
  • Adding functionality to our website to accommodate growing needs
